Where: The storage room ("empty room") in a large communal apartment in the prestigious center of St. Petersburg, home to 20 people.

What: Clothes are drying on clotheslines. We can see bicycles, the wheel from a child's carriage, a vacuum cleaner.

In boxes on the window sill are seedlings that will be transplanted into the vegetable garden of someone's dacha.

We see the same room eight years later in "A New Shower," Tour 3.
